Observation 02

A walk without a destination

A short walk does not need an errand at the end. Start with a familiar route, then take one different turn. Keep the route short enough that there is no need to hurry home.

Listen for the change between a busy road and a quieter street. Look for the small spaces people make their own: a plant on a step, a chair in the shade, a repaired gate. These details give a place its rhythm.

Before returning, pause somewhere for a minute. The walk may be ordinary, but a little unplanned time can make an ordinary day feel more spacious.
